Teak Patinizer - 1 Litre

Teak Patinizer is a water-based maintenance product for teak wood furniture based on synthetic polymers, which resist water and dirt. Teak Patinizer slows the growth of algae and fungi. To maintain teak’s silver-grey colour for a long period of time, without getting green deposits, Teak Patinizer should be used. Patinizer guarantees the typical light-gray patina of your furniture for a long time.

What does Teak Patinizer do with the teak?

Teak Patinizer does not turn the light brown teak into silver-grey teak immediately. The Teak Patinizer slows down the colour change process. When teak turns silver-grey because of the UV sunlight, it then remains silver-grey for a very long time. Teak Patinizer helps to prevent teak furniture from turning from the silver- grey to the dark grey/green which can be a sign of fungus build up.

What should I do with a new set of furniture, if I want it to turn a beautiful grey?

Leave your furniture outside for 4 to 8 weeks, so that it becomes a slightly pale yellow colour. Apply Teak Patinizer according to the directions on the packaging.

Our garden furniture set has not been well maintained. It has weathered quite badly and shows many patched of dark-gray and green. We would like to restore it to a nice silver color. What do you recommend?

The teak furniture should be cleaned with Golden Teak Cleaner. This will remove the deposits from the teak and returns the wood to the original pale brown colour. Follow this with a treatment of Golden Teak Patinizer.

Does Teak Patinizer affect the aluminum, brass or sling parts of the furniture?

Teak Patinizer has low acid content that does not affect aluminum, brass or sling.

Does the Teak Patinizer affect pavement and/or grass and plants?

Patinizer may affect grass, plants and some types of pavements. We recommend covering the work area with a disposable piece of plastic.

Should I take any kind of personal precautions when using Teak Patinizer?

Teak Patinizer is not hazardous. Since it is water-based, it is environmentally friendly product and 100% biodegradable. However, we do recommend avoiding eye and skin contact and using it in a well-ventilated area.

How should I apply Teak Patinizer?

Ensure that the teak is 100% dry. Apply a layer of Teak Patinizer using a soft lint-free cloth, and allow it to penetrate into the wood. Allow it to dry for 4 hours and apply a second coat. Allow the furniture to dry for 24 hours before exposing it to weather conditions.

How often should I apply Teak Patinizer?

Treating your furniture with Teak Patinizer once a year is usually sufficient. Extreme green deposit can occur under some conditions, such as exposure to long periods of damp. In this case, it is advisable to apply Teak Patinizer twice a year.

What is the difference between Teak Patinizer and the Protector?

Teak Patinizer does not contain pigments, so the product is transparent. While Protector will leave a protective layer in the wood, the resin particles of the Patinizer do not form a film in the wood, but will adhere onto the wood- molecules rejecting moisture and dirt, so no mildew growth will occur. This results in a beautiful silver-grey patina.

Can I use Teak Patinizer over a layer of Teak Protector?

This is not recommended.

Can I use Teak Protector on Teak Patinizer?

This is not possible because Teak Patinizer does not allow the Teak Protector to soak into the wood.

Please note: If furniture has been treated / painted, we will repair rather than replace any damage.
